Greek Ghost

Special Hobby's Mirage 1/72 F.1 was greeted with excitement by jet modellers, as the long overdue replacement for the Airfix and Hasegawa 70s kits. The hype was largely justified, as the new kit has lots of fine detail and options, although I did encounter a few surprising fit issues. Finished in Greek camo.

  1. very neat of course, goes without saying - the panel line wash (?) is superb. What do you use ?

    1. The panel line wash is water colour, although I've used oils for my last few builds. Thanks for the comment!

  2. Looks great and a very nice build. Can they still afford an air force?

    1. According to Wikipedia it's still in existence, they mostly use F-16s and Mirage 2000s now. Thanks for the comment!

    2. Greece before the recession was roughly in #30-35 of the most wealthy countries in the world, so we are in a crisis, but no, we are not living in the stone age. We even have electricity!

Jokes aside, yes we have an air force running good with a planned update of our F-16. Crisis hit H.A.F. mostly in supply and logistics.

The model in display is very good! And accurate. It is one of two planes that H.A.F. tested the Ghost pattern, but just a year before retirement. All 40 F-1s was in blue and silver like the French planes.
